Training for Lay Eucharistic Visitors

Pastoral visitation is a much-needed and integral part of parish ministry. We usually think of visiting the sick, shut-ins, hospital patients, and nursing home residents as pastoral care to be done by ordained clergy, but we are all ministers of the Church, and lay persons can play a vital part by taking the consecrated Eucharist to those who cannot be in church in person.

Harriet Chapel is offering a training session for anyone who feels called to becoming a Lay Eucharistic Visitor (LEV) on Saturday, August 21, from 9:00 to 11:00 AM. It will include the basics of pastoral visitation and the LEV communion liturgy. The Rev. Barbara has extensive experience in visiting the sick and dying, from her years of chaplaincy at Carroll Hospital and Carroll Hospice. She has trained Lay Pastoral Visitors in several of the parishes she has served over the past 26 years.

Reach out to Lynn Gebrowsky, our EV Coordinator, at 301-639-3368, with questions or to find out more about registration. Harriet Chapel is 5 miles south of Thurmont at 12625 Catoctin Furnace Rd. Thurmont, MD 21788
