Peace Be With You:
A Prayer for Quiet Confidence
O God of peace, who has taught us that in returning and rest we shall be saved, in quietness and confidence shall be our strength: By the might of your Spirit lift us, we pray, to your presence, where we may be still and know that you are God; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
(Book of Common Prayer, page 832)
Don’t just do something, stand there!
I find that by midday, I can get “squirrelly”. I know, this isn’t really a word, but if you have ever watched a squirrel you know what I’m talking about. Moving around frantically, erratically, looking for nuts, or burying food, or leaping from branch to branch. Squirrels can be in perpetual frenetic motion… and so can I if I let the stress of the day ramp up each hour without a break.

Sometimes, the best medicine is to simply stop.
Stop working. Stop scrambling. Stop escalating the energy, you cannot save yourself. In returning and rest you will be saved. The work of salvation belongs to God, stop trying to save your day and instead return to God’s presence. Unplug for 10 minutes. Walk outside. Stretch. Breathe. Walk the dog. Stare out the window. Whatever it is that allows you to turn your attention towards the source of all strength and energy and goodness, do it today and know that God is embracing you in love.
To help you find some peace and recenter yourself in a place of strength, courage, and wholeness
Blessings and Peace,
