Hello Hikers (new and experienced!)
We are so glad that you are interested in traveling along the Appalachian Trail for a three day backpacking retreat. This trip will be a wonderful opportunity to commune with God in the beauty of creation with a community of faithful folks who see the hand of God at work in the world about us. We will reflect on writings from Teilhard de Chardin, Hildegaard von Bingham, Julian of Norwich, St. Francis of Assisi, and other mystics and saints who reveal the power of God in nature.
We will be hiking between 8-10 miles each day. No one will be left behind & everyone can set their own pace. Some people will want to hike alone for a stretch and others will seek trail companionship. We will all help each other with whatever obstacles arise along our journey. That is the nature of being pilgrims!
We will meet up at the entrance to the AT at Penn-Mar on May 14th at 9am, and hike for three days north, getting off the trail Sunday, May 16th. We will have a shake-down hike on May 1st so everyone can try out hiking with their equipment. If you do not have your own backpacking equipment, we will help you get outfitted with donations from others or find inexpensive options to make your trip a success.
Let us know today if you are interested and we will begin to put our pilgrim team together.
~Peace on your path,
Mother Adrien, Randy Querry, and Deacon Kathleen,
