Pastoral News: Bruce Fleming

With a heavy heart, I share that Bruce Fleming, a faithful member of All Saints’, died on Sunday, September 12. As many of you know, Bruce had a medical emergency here at church during the 8 o’clock service, from which he never recovered. While a sudden death is always shocking, Bruce’s family is grateful for the gift that Bruce was able to get prompt medical care, and that in his final moments he was surrounded by love, prayer, and support.

His funeral service is currently being planned, and we will share more soon. Please keep Mary Beth and their sons Will and Chuck in your prayers.

I imagine Bruce’s death may be personal for many of you; those who helped provide medical care and assist first responders; those who prayed with us; those who sat in the unknown. Reach out to each other, and to us here on staff, if you need consolation or support.

A prayer for Bruce:
O God, whose mercies cannot be numbered: Accept our prayers on behalf of your servant Bruce, and grant him an entrance into the land of light and joy, in the fellowship of your saints; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

A prayer for those who mourn:
Gracious God, we come before you this day in pain and sorrow. We grieve the loss of Bruce, a precious human life. Give your grace to those who grieve, especially Mary Beth and their children, that we may find comfort in your presence and be strengthened by your Spirit. Be with us, your family as we mourn, and draw us together in your healing love; in the name of the one who suffered, died, and rose for us, Jesus our Savior. Amen.
